NLR, Special Collections Department, Bibliophilia office, quota CS XVI I 441.
Text printed on parchment, with miniature illuminated letters, framed by richly ornamented borders. From the very beginning, this book of the hours catches the eye with the title page on which our gaze is guided to the centre of the page by two unicorns, where the typographic mark of Thielman Kerver is illustrated. Illustrated with a splendid woodcut, the title page is animated by phytomorphic and zoomorphic motifs. Unicorns were frequently represented in the figurative arts of the Christian Western Europe of those times, acquiring religious symbolic values. By its appearance, the illustration is reminiscent of the famous mille-fleurs tapestries of the time, such as "La Chasse à la licorne" and "La Dame à la licorne" in France.
